About Us

What is 'My Volunteer Place'?

My Volunteer Place, student volunteer network, is a nonprofit community volunteer system that is designed to promote youth civic engagement to middle/high school students and young adult college students. This service specifically empowers the students to create volunteer connections with organizations, initiate the process of approval for volunteer hours worked, receive documented recognition for social responsibility, spotlight their service and accomplishments in a condensed civic engagement volunteer transcript, and apply for scholarship opportunities all in one place.

About My Volunteer Place...

— Our Story

The concept of My Volunteer Place began many years ago when Julie, a teacher and parent, saw a need for students to be able to easily find a variety of volunteer opportunities spanning across multiple causes to match the interests of the students and the needs of the community. She’s made it her mission to help those in need. She also sees potential in kids. Her children volunteered from a young age and experienced family volunteer event days where, as a family, they put on bright orange vests to pick up trash on the side of the road. She saw her own kids experience a sense of independence and self-confidence that comes along with giving of themselves for the betterment of someone else. This taught the valuable lesson of the importance of helping others.

But getting credit and recognition for their work was not so easy. How would they log their service hours? Can what they do even count towards community service? And how can other kids get involved? Parents and students both know the struggles of paperwork and logging hours efficiently. There’s a lot of organizing that goes into signing up for a cause.

That’s where her idea of MVP comes in. She wanted volunteering to be easy for both kids and organizations. The work they do should also have merit in the future. She wanted to be the bridge between kids and these organizations. All while promoting good values and matching the kid to the cause. MVP aims to make things as simple as possible and was designed with user-friendliness in mind.
